So far, two open innovation challenges have been launched on Ebola response. Two days ago, USAID launched a grand challenge on medical workers' personal protective equipment. Yegii's challenge, open for weeks, has already surfaced short term interventions: revamping training protocols and equipment for point of care diagnostics, mobile labs that don't require medical expertise, rapid launch game changing technology and products, new approaches to prevention, and alternative treatment approaches (on site instead of in hospitals), as well as long term interventions: literacy programs, layperson healthcare training programs and awareness, new types of partnerships, and more.
